Couple of the Year - Dave & Ruth Meyers
June has been a fairly busy month for us. Ruth continues to heal from the knee replacement surgery and has received approval from her cardiologist to have the other knee replaced in July. The Chapter picnic was great again. Without Butch, where would we go for our hot dogs and hamburgers? The deserts and side dishes were amazing as usual. We had to leave early as we had our granddaughters dance recital to attend also that afternoon. We are sort of adopted grandparents. Abbey asked us to be hers after her remaining grandparent passed away a few years ago. We try to treat her the way we do Chip and Rebecca. Several Saturday mornings this month, Mandy and Ruth have been going to yard sales to find great items for our Chapter Auction night in November. The third Saturday Dave joined them, seems they wanted some MAN items. Ruth and Mandy may continue shopping at yard sales because they have such a good time together. One of our goals was to go camping once Ruth’s knee healed enough for her to climb up and down steps into our camper and before her next surgery. Boy was this past week a hot one to do it. The first couple of days we stayed inside except to go home to feed our cat daily. Then we started to go swimming and just floated around in the bath tub like water. Evenings we rode around the lake in our small boat. All in all it was quite relaxing. Saturday, before the meeting, we took Miles to the SC Railroad Museum at Winnsboro. Miles sort of enjoyed the big trains but had more fun playing with a toy train and watching a HO scale model train running. We got there too late to go on the 10 mile train ride. We are looking forward to the Waterfall Ride this coming weekend. We think Miles will enjoy it also.
